So welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for, but we are so blessed to be at the place of the birthplace of the Dominican Rosary.

Now, the habit of praying repetitious our fathers and Hail Mary's, while thinking about

the gospel, this is an ancient practice, but over time it fell out of practice.

And St. Dominic restored the process. But over time, it fell out of practice.

St. Dominic restored the practice of the rosary,

probably the best Dominican theologian in the 20th century,

Father Garagou Lagrange.

He explained how this happened. He writes,

At the end of the 12th century, Southern France was ravaged by the Albugencian heresy,

and it was at that moment that our blessed lady made known to St. Dominic a kind of preaching,

till then unknown, which she said would be

one of the most powerful weapons against cultural lies. And under her inspiration, St.

Dominic went into the villages of the Albigensians, gathered the people, and he taught them the

truths of the faith. And then after each short instruction, he had them pray in our father

and ten Hail Mary's. And what the word of the preacher was unable to do,

the sweet prayer of the Hail Mary did for hearts.

And as Mary promised,

it proved to be the most fruitful form of preaching.

So, we pray the rosary, according to a very ancient tradition, reinstituted by St.

Dominic. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallow it be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done

on earth as it is in heaven
