My guest today is Kathy Whitward.

Kathy pulled her daughter out of public school after realizing how difficult it was for the

average classroom teacher to cope with her bright but autistic

nine-year-old. Nine years later, Thaya is over a third of the way to achieving a community

college degree and plans to major in creative writing at the university. Following Charlotte

Mason's methods using Ambleside Online, allowed Thaya to learn from her beloved books, and

at the same time gave

her a voice to tell back what she was learning and opened her world to include the riches of

Shakespeare and fine art. Kathy lives with her husband, daughter, and son in the Pacific Northwest,

works for the Catholic Church, and enjoys reading, hiking, and sailing. One of the founders of CM West,

Kathy hopes to give back to the Charlotte Mason community by helping with the Amblecide

online living science curriculum and hosting the semi-annual Pacific Northwest Charlotte
