Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Sam Roberts wrestling podcast introducing your host from New York here is Sam Roberts.

1:24.3

Sam Roberts wrestling podcast back in effect welcome everybody hope everybody had a great week so much to go over it's been a big week it's been a big week for me I just literally got back it's it's it's maybe an hour before I'm going to post this thing it is it is Wednesday night getting ready to post this podcast Thursday morning because I just got off a plane from Los Angeles.

1:54.3

Of course I was out there for the no mercy pay-per-view and then stayed out there to do some of my serious radio shows with Jim Norton but a lot a lot to dissect about that no mercy pay-per-view and when I got home just now right before I came down stairs to make sure that you all had a wonderful podcast to listen to this week and because I got so much to get off my chest about this world of wrestling we're living in I had a box waiting for me and I remembered see I always get the pay-per-view posters

2:24.2

for the pay-per-views that I do the kickoff shows for I go and WWE shop and I order them just to have them at some you know I got this a basement I got the studio now so I'll probably frame them or whatever but I don't get t-shirts as often now as I used to you know I don't go out and buy wrestling shirts quite as often just because you end up a massing so many especially because I get the pro wrestling crate from pro wrestling t's every month and they have amazing wrestling shirts in there but you end that's three a month what is that I think that's not going to be a lot of fun.

2:54.2

I'm not that good with math but somewhere around there however I did have to order a WWE t-shirt when I ordered my poster off WWE shop I would I'd been debating it I've been debating this for quite some time and I finally decided just to bite the bullet I got the nanny the Natalia night heart cat t-shirt I had to I don't know if it's tech I was looking at it and I was like there's nothing on here about Natalia I think it might just be a two-push

3:24.2

shirt on the back it says natty cat which I don't think she is called in WWE so I'm not sure if it's officially an

3:35.1

Natalia t-shirt or if she just kind of tricked WWE shop into selling a two-push t-shirt whatever it is there's a cat and there's

3:43.0

lasers and there's rainbows and I was like yeah this is one that I'll regret not having at some point I'll

3:50.1

wish that I had the Natalia two-push t-shirt and so that's what I decided to get so at some point I'm sure you'll see me out and about

3:57.9

wearing that shirt because it really is glorious not to overuse the word and we'll talk about it in the state of wrestling why the word glorious was being thrown around this week but not to

4:07.8

overuse that term but it is it is a fantastic piece of clothing I'm very very excited about it I'm looking at it and it's it's outstanding I can't believe it got made that's what I get so excited about I get

4:19.4

excited about that like when I go to a movie and it's so off the beaten path I just get excited that it was made that it had the chance to see the light of day in movie theaters so when I look at that

4:31.0

WWE shirt with a bunch of cats and laser beams and stuff on it I just get excited that that amount of different and creativity and left of center thinking was put on to a WWE t-shirt I get pumped about it I get all jazzed up so that's what I am I'm

4:47.7

jazzed up about the new nanny t-shirt speaking of the ladies division in the WWE the women's division which is stronger than it's ever been we've had great women throughout the years but it's usually just like a sprinkling of them I guess you know the attitude era probably doesn't get enough credit because there was so much nonsense going on but the women's division in the attitude era if you would cut out all the like

5:15.2

broad panties and mud matches and all that stuff you probably would have upset some people on Twitter but you actually had the potential for great women's wrestling in the attitude era you had at the end of the attitude area you had Mickey James but before that you had

5:30.2

lead and Trish Stratis and Ivory and Jacqueline and all these women that were these amazing athletes so you had the potential for it but we were just living in a different time culture was different and for whatever reason people wanted to see

5:45.2

sable kind of learn how to do one move and get the women's championship and people wanted to see Stacey Kebler get up on the table on nitro and just show her legs off for a while that's what at the time people wanted to see I'm glad that that people got a little bit smarter maybe got a little bit more intellectual about their pursuits as they watch professional wrestling but I'm happy that people realize the air of their ways because in and luckily now I'm happy that people realize the air of their ways because in and luckily now I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy that people are going to see the air of their ways because I'm happy

6:15.2

when we talk about the women's revolution and that whole thing of course we talk about what it was like with the bronch panties matches and the mud matches and this and the nonsense and the and the bikini contest and everything but you do get to tell the history of that attitude era and the women in that time that were making a difference those seeds were very quietly being planted so that at some point women's wrestling could be taken as seriously as it is now.

6:45.2

And you know, you know, you you have to credit that generation of women specifically from NXT the the Charlotte Sasha Banks Bailey Becky Lynch generation for being that first to kind of get over the hump but at the same time you have to credit the United States women soccer team you have to credit round a rousey in the UFC you have to credit the fact that there was a movement for women in athletics in general and the WWE saw that and even though not all sports were very important for them.
