There's something depressing about watching the sunrise in Las Vegas.

Some people may be exiting the casino for the first time since the night before, their

pockets empty after spending too much at a table that kicked them while they were down.

They should maybe be looking out their hotel room window unable to sleep because of the

time change, sipping their coffee, licking their wounds, and checking their room to make

sure all their worldly possessions are there.

But me, I was doing something that I've preached numerous times since the inception of

this show.

I was taking the early flight home.

I woke up to a phone call that you don't want to wake up to.

Did you miss your alarm?

I claimed I hadn't, but I definitely did.

Luckily, I had packed the morning before in preparation for my degeneracy, something you

can't avoid when you're in a city as dangerous as there.

With my clothes neatly folded at the end of my bed, I got dressed as fast as I could.

No belt, no socks, no shower, and a head of hair that made me look like I was Robert Smith

from the cure.

There was a brief moment where I knew I should do a clean sweep of the room before sprinting

to the elevator, but given the person that I shared a room with was in on my early flight,

I figured they could gather any big misses that I left behind for me.
