Welcome back to another edition of Irish Illustrated Spotlight. I am Tim O'Malley joined for the

first time this week by Irish Illustrated recruiting analysts Kevin Sinclair, the perfect man to have on

because last week, Notre Dame Media got a chance to meet eight of the nine June arriving freshmen

and three incoming graduate transfers for the first time.

It was the first time for most of us. Definitely not the first time Kevin Sinclair would have

spoken to these players, though. He's talked to a few of them on the phone for a couple of years now,

and Kevin, you're a great guy to get an insight on this, and I want to precede the show by pointing out

that from 2019 through last year,

so that's five seasons, the best Notre Dame freshman entered in the summer.

It goes against all logic.

Those guys are all going to the NFL or are in the NFL right now for those scoring at home.

That was Kyle Hamilton, Michael Mayer, Joe Alt, Benjamin Morrison, and last year, Jeremiah

Love, I don't think anybody would counter that there was a better freshman than Jeremiah

love last year. That might end this season because it's a very top-heavy early-entry class,

14 or 15, 14 early entries, I believe. That might end this year. But some of these guys are

definitely going to make waves as freshmen.

We'll get to everyone's favorite incoming freshman, Gerby Lambert, later. But I want to talk to you

first about a guy that I spoke with at length, and I think he will make an impact on special

teams, if healthy, and if he can really kind of assimilate to college life, Tay Johnson from

Fort Wayne. That is a great prospect project for the future,

and maybe his athleticism gets him out there this year.
