In a very short amount of time, Spotify Rappt has become an annual end-of-year event and

a viral sensation.

Basically, the streaming service tells you what songs you've listened to most often

over the course of the year, but it's more than an opportunity to examine your own personal

listening habits.

Increasingly, it's something you share with others on social media, as if what you listen

to somehow defines who you are.

And as Spotify Rappt has become a whole thing, questions have arisen about the algorithm

behind it, and how it works to point us to other music, creating a kind of perpetual feedback

loop.
