A new update for Meta's ex-competitor Instagram threads allows users to connect more with the

Fediverse, which is also called the open social web, and include services like

Flipboard, Macedon, Pixel Fed, Peer Tube, and more. On Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg

announced that users can now follow profiles from other Fediverse servers. Starting today, users

who have turned on sharing to the Fediverse are able to follow people from other Fediverse

servers who have liked, followed, or replied to federated profiles on threads. When scrolling

through threads, users can now go to someone's profile and see all their posts on other servers.
