0:00.0 | Hello. Welcome to the Inside Outside podcast. I'm Jessica Mernan, author, horticultural therapy practitioner, and founder of Basquer, where I help people use |
0:23.2 | gardening and nature for mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being. And as much as I love nature, |
0:29.3 | I really love being inside, watching TV, doing puzzles, I'm obsessed with pop culture. So each week, |
0:37.1 | I merge those two worlds together and my guest |
0:38.9 | and I talk about nature. That's the outside part. And then a current inside obsession. Before we dive in |
0:45.0 | to our episode, as always, I share a reason why I love to grow. And in no particular order, |
0:52.4 | reason number four of why I grow things to create more movement in my |

1:24.5 | pitching, and scheduling, sitting. And yes, I know that there's those |
1:28.4 | walking treadmill desk things, but A, I don't have space for it. And I just kind of don't want |
1:34.8 | one of those. So I'm sitting a lot still. And sometimes I don't want to go for another walk, |
1:41.0 | but I want to be outside doing something. So my garden has been a huge |
1:46.3 | motivator to move my body more, whether I'm seating or weeding or raking or filling pots or |
1:52.9 | cutting bouquets. I'm constantly moving my body outside. And it just makes me feel a lot better. |
1:59.7 | And it's really helped offset all the sitting that I do doing things like this podcast. |
2:07.1 | So that's my number four reason of why I like to grow. Today's guest, I don't think she ever gets tired of walking. |
2:14.8 | I'm talking to Emily Pfeiffer. Emily Pfeiffer is the owner of one of my all-time |
2:20.0 | favorite restaurants, Botanica, in Los Angeles. She also writes the newsletter, read, eat, |
