Each episode throughout this month, we’re choosing a monster and discussing how it – or something like – might evolve biologically, pulling inspiration from critters of the real world. This month’s theme: sea monsters. This episode, we turn our attention to the creatures whose enticing songs sound over the sea. 0:35.1	And as typical, we lead the weirdest for last. We did
0:38.0	crackens. We did sea serpents. We did the Leviathan. And now, the Sirens. So,
0:45.9	this year we've been doing sea monsters, but spooky is a tradition we do every year for
0:51.5	October, Halloween. And we look at some of our favorite and the
0:57.3	most famous and noteworthy monsters and creatures and weird mythical things, and see what could
1:05.6	we do with that concept and normal real world natural selection and evolution.
1:13.2	And when those two combine, what do we end up with?
1:16.5	Right.
1:16.8	It's an opportunity for us to flex our biological thinking muscles
1:21.6	and see if we can use the building blocks and tools of real world evolution
1:26.9	to produce an end point that
1:30.3	approximates a chosen monster.
1:33.2	That would get someone to go, okay, yeah, I guess that's that.
