I've never in my life seen a team with a losing record get as much attention as the Los Angeles Lakers this year.

But for good reason, because they could be so much better when you have LeBron James, when you have Anthony Davis, when you have Russell Westbrook, you're not supposed to be bad.

But right now the Lakers are maybe not bad, but they're teetering on bad.

They're walking that fine line between good and bad.

And it's led a lot of people to believe that they are not only bad, but unfixable.

Because they've given up most of their assets to go get Anthony Davis and go get Russell Westbrook,

and it doesn't seem like they have to role players around those guys.

And Westbrook's been so-so for them and he's had some problems.

But I disagree.

I don't think the Lakers are in a position to become title favorites with some moves that they could make towards the

deadline. But I do think they could at least become good or decent contenders who you could

see going all the way. So today I'm going to talk a little bit about what I think they need to do

to get to that point, what moves they need to make and what just changes they need to make as a team

and their mindset. As Captain Planet, I think once said, knowing is half the battle. So before we talk

about how to fix them, we have to talk about what exactly are the problems with the Los Angeles Lakers.

And I have it boiled down to five different things. Number one, they're old.

Now, that's not to say that you can't be good if you're old. I mean, when the Lakers won their

title in 2020, they were the oldest team in the league. But the Lakers are not the oldest team in the

league. They're one of the oldest teams of all time. And being old is, doesn't necessarily

mean you're bad, but it's not a good thing. You don't want to be as old as them. And the thing

about them is that it shows because they just do not play with energy. And a lot of people will

point to the defensive end, which has not been great, but it's not been as bad as I think

...
