Learning to love in “Real Time”

Responding to Hurts:Truth: Love is patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4a).Practice: When hurt, love absorbs the blow and responds with kindness.
Responding to Differences:Truth: Love does not envy or boast; it is not rude, self-seeking, easily angered, or does it keep a record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:4b-5).Practice: Celebrate differences and refuse to compare (1 Corinthians 12:12-31).

Comparison always leads to carnality.

Envy (Compares UPWARD): Produces jealousy, anger, resentment, and bitterness (1 Corinthians 12:15-16).
Solution: Believe God is good and has provided what's best for you. Admit and repent, ask God to use you, meditate on His goodness, and choose gratitude.
Arrogance (Compares DOWNWARD): Produces pride, boasting, rudeness, and independence (1 Corinthians 12:21-22).
Solution: Admit your needs and be vulnerable to receive God's goodness. Remember everything is from God, recall your humble beginnings, spend time with those who know your true self, and admit your needs.

1:22.6	And I remember later, you know how you sing along in the car, and then you hear what you're singing.
1:28.0	I listened to the words, and I thought, these may be some of the most pathetically sad words
1:34.7	about love I've ever heard.
1:36.8	She came out of a very difficult, abusive relationship, if you know her life story.
1:42.7	And if you have time to actually study the words,
1:45.4	I actually pulled them down.
1:47.5	And she says, basically, love is nothing more than a secondhand emotion.
1:52.9	It's a sweet, old-fashioned notion.
