Everything you need to know about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In this in-depth teaching, we're going to cover several different facets concerning the

gifts of the Holy Spirit. So let's begin by looking at discerning true gifts. Let's go to the writings

of Paul in 1st Corinthians chapter 12. I'll begin at verse number one. Now dear brothers and sisters,

regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us.

I don't want you to misunderstand this. You know that when you were still pagans,

you were led astray and swept along in worshipping speechless idols.

So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus.

And no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

So here, the issue is what do you do with Jesus? What is the message concerning Christ?

Now, granted, people can preach the message of Christ and still live a lifestyle of hypocrisy,

but at least you know that the source of that power is very likely to be

of the Holy Spirit if, in fact, the gifts, the power that's being displayed, if that is all pointing

to Jesus, if the central message is the gospel, if what is being taught is biblically based. So Jesus

is the foundation. Jesus is that distinct line that gives us discernment.

If it points to Jesus, if it glorifies Jesus, if it's about Jesus, if it reveals Jesus, then it's Holy Spirit power.

If it highlights the man or the woman, if it draws more attention to the person than it does

to the Lord, well, then you have to begin to ask questions.

So Paul gives us the tools for true discernment, and it's quite simple.

What do they do with Jesus?

What is their message concerning the Christ?
