watching my father draw as a young man. He was drawing romance comics.

talking about his father, John Ramita Sr.

When he started to draw the superheroes,

oh, this is fantastic.

So I asked him and he said, well, these are superheroes and these are characters and

yada yada yada. That either was that night or the next night I fell asleep and there were monsters under my bed and I had to get up. I was terrified.

I had to go up to see what dad was doing up in the attic and he's working.

And I walk up on him, this is the old attic, you pull down the ladder in the attic back in Queens.

You pull down the ladder and you walk up into the attic and there was his office.

And I swear, I can see it in my head and I can draw the whole thing right now.

And he's working on Daredevil Number 12.

Now just because he was an artist didn't make me want to be an artist and I still say to this day as God is my my witness watching the cover he was working on not all of the fear out of my head because I was suddenly paying attention

and it was on the board and it was dared of a 12, K-ZAR up in the tree and so on, and dared over

was surrounded by all the bad guys and I immediately asked him what is this and he

tells me this is daredevil he's a good guy and he's a superhero and these guys are

all gonna fight him and he's gonna beat the crap out of all of them.

Not in quite those words, but that's what he said.

I said, really? Tell me, oh, and by the way, he's blind.

And I think the top of my head blew off and according to my father I sat down at his board and watched him for several hours and then started drawing on the floor with a piece of chalk. And apparently that was the beginning of this because he tells me that's all I wanted to do was draw and that's all I did from that point on.

And that cover I have in my possession in my house locked up. I still have that cover and it's

so important to me.
