A real quick thing before we get going, would you please follow our show in whatever app you're using to listen to us right now? Yeah, you don't even have to listen. You could just hit follow and it would really mean a lot to us. Yeah, there's probably like a follow button or maybe there's a bell or a plus sign. Like there's some symbol somewhere and then you'll get notified whenever we have a new episode. We would so appreciate it.

0:22.7

We really would.

0:23.3

It makes a huge difference for our show, so please do that. Thank you so much. And now let's start the show. Let's get in it. Hey, everybody, it's Nick Layton. And I'm Leah Bonema. And we had so many great questions from you all in the wilderness.

0:38.2

Aoo!

0:47.8

That we have a bonus episode. So here we go. Our first question is, quote, our in-laws were hosting a small dinner for us and a few relatives.

0:53.7

We let them know beforehand that if they needed us to grab anything from the store before we came over, we'd be happy to.

0:59.0

A few hours later, they sent us the whole shopping list for the entire dinner.

1:04.9

We quietly obliged, brought it over, and they started cooking, but they never reimbursed us.

1:08.9

While I don't mind running errands for someone, it's like they were spending our money without asking.

1:09.7

Is this rude, even when it's

1:11.5

family? How would you respond to a situation like this? Oh, dear. Right? I read this and I was like,

1:21.6

oh dear. There was a lot of head wiping, like a lot of forehead sort of. Yeah. Essentially what happened

1:27.3

is what the question should have been and was, hey, can you buy all this stuff and we'll make dinner for you? That's what that is. That's not a hey, do you want to come over? Yeah. I mean, my first thought was, what was their plan had you not offered to stop at the store? Were they going to go grocery shopping? Like, how was this evening going to unfold?

1:46.0

I also thought about that. I literally don't get it. Right. This is one of the ones where you wish

1:50.5

you could interview the other party to be like, hey, what was going to happen if they didn't

1:55.3

bring over all the groceries? So a couple thoughts. We'll go through the bin, no particular order.

2:00.7

One is offering like this,

2:03.2

it is a thing that we say. Oh, do you want me to pick up anything? And very often we don't mean it.

2:08.7

It's just sort of like a thing that we say to be polite. But I think some people do take it

2:12.4

literally, which is what happened here. And so I think if you aren't really interested in doing it
