What might have happened if the church had gone down the Marcionite route, or if you

say the Marcionites would have won?

Two of the Marcionites.

Fairly early on in church history, around about the year 130, I think. A wealthy guy called Marcian, who was the

son of a bishop in Asia Minor, comes to Rome and he basically tries to buy his way into the church.

He gives the Roman church a massive amount of money. I actually did some calculations, and it was like

enough money to feed all the Christian poor in Rome for about three years

on bread.
