And today I'm joined again by Josie Lewis, our head gardener at Perch Hill, who has done lots of podcasts with me over the years. And last year,

we did lots together because we did gardening jobs. But this year, she's been on less. But the thing that we're just absolutely bursting to talk about both of us is about species tulips, isn't it,

Josie? Yes, it is. yeah, a newfound favourite, really.

So, yeah, I think, just to give a little bit of background,

Josie and I go every spring to Holland

and lots of different gardens in the UK.

But last spring, last April, early April actually, we went to the Netherlands and visited

a tulip species breeder.

And species means, I think, I'm right in saying, Josie, that it's

what you would find in the wild. Yes, yeah. But increasingly, they've been used to create hybrids.

So their genetics are still closely related to the tulips you might find in the world, but actually they are cultivars now, aren't they?
