It's Derek, and I am here with a returning guest, somebody we're always very grateful

to have, get a bit of his time to talk about the situation in Gaza.

As I say, returning guest, Muhammad, thank you so much for coming back to the show.

Thanks so much for having me.

So I wanted to have you on earlier this week to talk about the Israeli operation in northern

Gaza and in Jabaliyah and the devastation that it's caused.

And then, of course, the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar happened.

So we'll get to northern Gaza, but let's start with Sinwar.

Just kind of go through what we know about what happened in the circumstances of his death.

So we're recording this Friday afternoon, and yesterday, Thursday morning, images started circulating online of a man who, for striking

resemblance to Yehisonroix, dead amongst rubble of a building somewhere in Gaza.

And as the day went on, it became clear that that deed was Yahasinawa, the man who was Israel's

most wanted, and probably fair to say, most wanted man by the United States as well over

the last year.

He had been killed, according to the Israelis themselves, he had been killed after taking part in a firefight against their soldiers.

This man who, the combined efforts of the Israeli, U.S., and various European intelligence services,

probably Arab intelligence services as well, had been dedicated to finding over the last year turned out to be fighting on

the front lines and it would be i mean you see a lot of headlines about him being assassinated

assassination is the wrong word because the Israelis didn't realize who they had killed until

a day later they thought it was just the militant.
