Jared Case, how long have you been working at the Eastman House?

I've been at the Eastman House since 2000, so this will be 16 years this year.

It is the head of collection, information, research, and access in the moving image department.

How many years have you been doing the Nitrate Picture Show?

This is only the second year for the Nitrate Picture Show, but it's something that's been on our mind for a while.

We've always played nitrate, maybe two or three times a year, and we have our own collection of nitrate film,

and we're one of the few places around that can still show nitrate

film so it's it's always been a part of our nightly program um not on a regular basis but a

semi regular basis two years ago we realized that this is something that we needed to do for a

weekend to bring films from all over

the world to the Eastman House on nitrate stock in order to show them. Isn't that kind of risky

transporting these things? It's not as risky as you might think. There are a lot of regulations

that you need to follow in terms of shipping and storing and projecting as well.

So we've got century projectors up in the booth, and they've been there since 1951 when we opened the theater.

What you need to do for nitrate film is different from your safety film, which is made out of either acetate or polyester,
