I'm Scott Wapner on day 172 of the coronavirus crisis tonight, why the NFL season might be in

jeopardy.

You've got to figure out a way how you can keep the game going without sacrificing or risking the health of the players.

The nation's top doctor cast doubt on the possibility of a safe football season.

The NFL is reacting.

Other big sports also having problems convincing players to get back to business,

including the NBA. Also tonight. We're not in the post-COVID time. We're in the middle of a COVID-19

pandemic. New rules and regulations on wearing a mask. This CNBC special report begins right now. Here's Scott Wapner. Welcome. It is good to have you

with us on this Thursday night. We start with a flag from the nation's top infectious disease doctor,

warning that a football season might not be possible after all. Dr. Anthony Fauci telling CNN, quote, unless players are essentially in a

bubble insulated from the community and they are tested nearly every day, it would be very hard to see

how football is able to be played this fall. If there is a second wave, which is certainly a possibility

and which would be complicated by the predictable flu season.

Football may not happen this year.

The NBA plans to resume play in Orlando next month in a bubble,

but some players still have many concerns tonight.
