Hey folks, welcome to a special episode at the projection booth. On this episode, I am talking

0:14.0

with Professor D. Harlan Wilson about his book on J.G. Ballard. It's available via the

0:20.5

University of Illinois Press.

0:22.2

You can get it at many places. And I hope you enjoy this episode.

I'm trying to remember back to the first time I ever heard of J.G. Ballard. I don't know if I can come up with a specific time. I'm curious, do you remember

0:37.8

when you first heard of Ballard? I don't, but my, I don't know. When I was thinking about this

0:47.2

interview, I was wondering how honest I was going to be, and then I figured, well, why not be completely honest because the book has received

0:57.4

some pretty good acclaim. I actually haven't seen any negative reviews from the book. So

1:47.3

So I'm the reviews editor for extrapolation, which is the academic journal for speculative fiction.

1:55.4

And so I'm always receiving reviews of different books and seeing what's going on.

2:02.4

And I got a review of a book from University of Illinois Press, which was from this new, not a review of a book.

2:12.8

I got a review copy of a book for this new series of Dad going on.

2:17.3

This was, you know,

2:18.1

several years ago called Modern Masters of Science Fiction. And basically they're looking to do,

2:26.4

get scholars to do books on individual science fiction writers. I don't know how many they have

2:34.0

in the pipe so far, probably about 15, 20, maybe not 20, 10, 15,

2:40.1

let's do that.
