enjoy this interview. Remind me how you guys know each other. It was probably 2012. I was

toying with the idea of writing a book about metaphysical horror films, and Jacob's Ladder was going to be one of the big titles there.

So I think I started digging around.

I found Bruce's preferred version of the script, which was published by applause.

And then that had a kind of 20 or 30 page essay in the back of the book about how he wrote it. And I love that film. I loved it even more

after reading the script. And then after reading Bruce's essay, I just thought this guy is

fascinating. And I wonder if I can track him down and talk to him. So I got on the internet

and it turned out that he was teaching a meditation class, a weekly meditation class about 10 minutes away from where I was living at the time.

So I emailed Bruce and said, hey, can I come to this class?
