From the release of the Phantom Menus, Star War Celebration began in Denver, Colorado.

And 20 years later, it's safe to say that celebration has changed the way that fans celebrate

the Star Wars saga but it started much much earlier than April 30th 1999 and

Celebration this year, we thought we would look back

to the creation of Star Wars Celebration

with two of the people who were behind the very beginning of this convention

and that's Dan Madsen and Steve Sansweet.

Dan Madsen was president and head of the Lucas Film Star Wars fan club and the creator and

editor-in-chief of Star Wars Insider magazine and Steve Sansweet, who is now the current owner, CEO and Stewart over Rancho Obie One was

head of fan relations for Lucasfilm and both of those guys came together from the fan side and the official Lucashome side and created what would be known as mudstock the most memorable Star Wars celebration ever, if I do say so myself.

We originally had others planned to come on and discuss their involvement in the first hour celebration but due to scheduling and other

problems we weren't able to get all the people we'd like so we might do a follow-up in the future
