I'm Danny Bessner, here as always with my friend and comrade, Derek Davison, and we're here to talk about the ceasefire that was reached between the United States, Hamas, and Israel.

There's been talk about the ceasefire for about a week, but Derek, could you let us know

what actually happened in the end or what appears to be happening, even though this is

obviously a fluid situation?

Right. The Israelis and Hamas and the other Palestinian factions have agreed to basically a first stage ceasefire

with the release of the remaining captives in Gaza. This is based on the framework that

Donald Trump put out, promulgated last week after meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House and giving Netanyahu the time to edit it quite a bit.

But it doesn't reflect agreement on the full framework.

As we talked about over the week, and when Hamas replied to that framework,

they basically broke it into pieces.

Their reply concerned the chunk of issues that could be resolved fairly quickly.

As I look at it now, there are at least three boxes of things here in that framework.

One is the basic ceasefire aid coming in, captives released, Israel, the Israeli military withdrawing

to some new position within Gaza. All of that stuff is in this agreement.

There are other boxes here, and we can talk about this,

but there's the box of longer-term things

that Hamas and the Israelis want to negotiate

like a full, potentially full, or at least mostly full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, which would come in stages,

Hamas potentially disarming, the governance of Gaza moving forward.

There's a bunch of things in this second, longer-term box.

And then there's the third box that Hamas basically said,
