I almost want to say guys only, but it's not because I'm

there asking the questions. But we are talking or starting this part of it off, talking about

community and why it's so difficult for men to connect and therefore be able to confront each other.

It's because we haven't done so well in building communities

here in this American culture. And Derek, having lived in Africa for such a long period of time,

he talks about how it's different in other countries. Let's get started. Living in some countries

in sub-Saharan Africa, where the society is much more fluid, where communities

are much more open, and it's, you know, parents discipline each other's children.

And it's the community's job to bring children and young people up, even if you're not

the mom and dad. And so there's a shared responsibility to make sure that young people are

growing up. And, you know, they have their make sure that young people are growing up.

And, you know, they have their own challenges.

But children there grow up, they're more mature at an earlier age than I find children here in the U.S.

And I think that's partly wise because there's other adults in their lives.
