Alana talks about how she came to be a farmer, explains why she and her husband decided to start fully observing Shmitah,

and shares some of the challenges and amazing moments they've experienced along the way.

Also, a conversation on

maintaining respect for Torah while using modern technology to spread it. And how can a

community grow larger and smaller at the same time? All this and more behind the Bima.

small than mine, Rabbi Josh Brody. We're here to take you behind the bema. We're here to take

you behind the bema. A little old school overlay we have for you tonight. You don't know it,

but it's a throwback Wednesday to send us backwards. So it's great to be together. Again, we have a phenomenal

guest tonight. Someone we come to know well. We hosted in our community and can help sensitize all

of us to a very special year in Israel, the year of Schmitter, the sabbatical year, not what we're

used to, not that we're so used to it, but the notion of a paid sabbatical.

This is the idea of an unpaid sabbatical, and we'll get some inspiration. What that means? What's that like to be a farmer today? Broda, did you ever think about being a farmer? You know, actually I have. You know, there's been times when you go to Israel and you go in one of these kibbutzs and, you know, it sounds like, it seems like it's a lot more fun than it probably is,

one day really yeah why not interesting it worked the land huh something just never don't tell

simone that by the way by the way i'm looking at our yard, which is what we used to broadcast. And they have something called background music now that you could play. Yeah. Let's see, feeding the ducks. What is this? Yeah. This is what I'll do on the farm. That's feeding the ducks? Yeah. When I hop off my tractor and I go feed the ducks.
