All right, everyone back to another episode of Friends from Work, a podcast about all things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,

and it's hosted by me, Kyle, and my longtime friend, Robbie.

So today we have another special interview for you guys,

and this is one that I personally have really have been hoping to do for a while here.

We have a writer today that comes from Austin, where I live,

and he's someone that I've followed a lot over the past couple years and that I've become a big

fan of. He wrote a 2018 comic called Rise of the Black Panther that came out sort of in the midst of the

Tanahasi Coates Black Panther run that's critically acclaimed.

And it's a really, really beautifully written comic.

And I don't say that lightly because, you know, I'm pretty picky when it comes to writing

in particular with this stuff.

And it's just masterfully done.

It came out the same year as a Black Panther film.

And as we talked about in this interview, kind of has a lot of synergy with that film.

They both deal with kind of the sort of contradictions inherent in the Wakandan project and identity and this idea of

opening yourself up to the world and what it means to be an African nation that was never

colonized. And it just deals with all, if you're a fan of the marvel comics universe it it goes into

all sorts of kind of deep black panther pathology you know gold nuggets and i think you'll you'll

really enjoy it you have everything from captain america and in the winter soldier to to namor and

storm and luke cage and just all all sorts

of really fun stuff that also serves to be a perfect intro point for you if you've never read

a Black Panther comic or a comic at all. I know often folks are are looking for an end there.
