Summary

Join us for this conversation with Dr. Jeff Myers of Summit Ministries on why Christians must demand justice in this election crisis.

From Dr. Myers' article, "As the election crisis drags on and the news is filled with widespread reports of voting irregularities and fraud, confusion and chaos reign. America needs help, and yet people of faith are almost entirely asleep at the wheel.
Many feel they did enough by voting. I’ve seen countless people post the meme “God is in control” on their social media pages as if to say, 'I did my part. Whatever happens next is God’s business.'
This is bad citizenship and even worse theology." Dr. Myers explains why.

Haley, it's great to be with you.

So I'm really thankful for the article that you wrote, Christians demand election justice,

1:00.9

because there are some crazy stuff going on right now in this country. And I know that a lot of us our heads are spinning. We're like, what is going on? I mean, it's, it's getting a little scary.

1:06.2

And so I really found that your article helped kind of put everything in perspective and

1:10.4

and helped me as a

1:11.5

believer understand why this is so important. So why did you, I mean, why did you write it if you want to

1:16.6

speak about it? Just to make people grumpy, I'm just kidding. I wrote it because I do think that

1:24.2

I have seen so many social media posts where people say, well, I voted and that's all

1:30.4

I can do and now God is in control. And I thought, bad citizenship and that is bad theology. It's

1:36.7

bad citizenship because in a republic, your vote does not get you across the finish line. It gets you

1:42.4

to the starting line. And it's about theology

1:45.6

because saying God is in control is not a good description of what God is like. He's a sovereign

1:50.9

God who's put us here as his image bearers to continue to make a difference. And that's how we love

1:56.7

our neighbors, by the way. If you look in scripture, this is they love your neighbor by giving
