The goal of the show today is to make the people in the Bible come alive a little bit more.

Make them more than just a name on a page.

Also, to get rid of this Sunday school

little kid version of Jesus and of the Bible that is oftentimes sneaks even into my brain.

And I think most people have. I think most people have this cartoon image of Jesus and cartoon image of all the stories of the Bible,

like Noah's Ark with cartoon giraffes and elephants. But no, like we got to move past that. The Bible

is real and serious. God isn't messing around. This isn't a cartoon. Sodom and Gomorrah isn't messing

around. Beheading John the Baptist is not messing around.

Job and the Massacre of the Innocence, which we'll get to in just a little bit of

this isn't kid stuff.

This isn't stuff that you paint on a Sunday school wall in bright primary colors.

But it's real.
