0:57.8	there are lots of ways to read the results of last night's election for some it represents a
1:03.6	failure of the center left to engage with very real issues of poverty for others it reflects
1:09.2	a failure to fully energize a skeptical democratic voting race there are takes about third party
1:14.8	candidates and the irresponsible media relationship with Trump about the future of the Supreme Court
1:20.3	and about climate change all of these are conversations worth having wherever you fall on them
1:27.2	most striking to me though is the simple fact that nearly 60 million Americans chose to support a
1:33.7	campaign that leveraged racist xenophobic anti-LGBTQ and sexist rhetoric it's a campaign centered
1:41.2	on a man who was bragged about committing sexual assault and who has faced accusations from multiple
1:45.7	women for doing just that a man who's under FTC investigation for massive fraud a man who has earned
1:51.7	millions of dollars for himself at the expense of others including both his own employees and
1:57.5	American taxpayers in failing to repudiate such a campaign this result offers validation to both
2:03.7	the emerging alt-right and the resurgent hate groups that have become all too common for many
2:10.1	Americans this has forced a confrontation with part of their nation that was easy to ignore until now
2:16.9	for those of us on the margins people of color LGBTQ folks immigrants religious minorities
