Hi, I'm Alex Clement, one of the writers of G0 Media's global politics newsletter, which is called Signal, and I'm guest hosting the podcast this week to highlight a special project that G0 has done on the global impact of the U.S. election.

In less than two months' time, voters in the United States

will go to the polls in an election that could reshape American life

for years to come.

But in the stark choice between President Donald Trump

and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden,

Americans will also be choosing a leader who will oversee

the world's biggest economy, command the world's most

powerful military, and govern a country that still has unparalleled global reach in commerce

and culture. As a result, the impact of the election will reverberate far beyond American

shores. But how? Here at G0, we wanted to understand better the global impact

of the U.S. election. So we did something simple. We asked. Over the course of several weeks in

August, my fellow Signal writers and I called up prominent local journalists and commentators in 24

countries around the world and asked how the U.S.

election drama is playing out where they live, how the Trump presidency has affected their

country since 2016, and what they expect to come next after November 3rd.

Over the next 45 minutes or so, we're going to listen to some of those voices with you

and provide some light

context and conclusions about what we heard. And to do that, I want to introduce my colleagues

from the Signal newsletter who carried out this massive project and brought it to life.
