The legal sports betting industry has really taken off

in the last few years, ever since the U.S. Supreme Court

overturned a ban and left the question of legality

up to states.

A recent Pew Research Center survey found

about one in five U.S. adults say they've bet money

on sports in the last year,

and the majority of states have now legalized

some form of sports betting.

In fact, the most popular state, California,

will vote on two propositions about sports betting next month.

So what are the potential benefits and consequences

of this type of gambling?
