The My name is Tim Davis. I am a teacher and coach at West Anchorage High School and that is what I do for work.

So to start this off, the Anchorage School District recently announced that the school year will start online

Which is the opposite of what they had been saying that school would be in person. What do you think about school

being online rather than in person right now? You know I think like socially it's

from what we can see especially you know we're we're doing this a day after the biggest

increase a huge spike in numbers so socially I gotta think it's good for us to start really diving in and saying hey we this is important for education to be addressing now we we if the numbers are what we see them doing coming together with a thousand people in a building

that should give us some pause with that same deal we there's a give take and and obviously

the huge issue to me is as a parent now myself is child

care and that is that's going to be difficult especially in single parent homes, it could be very difficult if the part of society

where that parent has to work is open, but where their kids have traditionally gone to school is closed.

Mm-hmm. So we've been kind of texting back and forth about students physically going

back to school this year.

And you sent me a list of your main points of concern,

and we'll get to that.

But first, I wanted to see if you could explain your average day at work.

So before COVID, you know, I was really fortunate. I would get in I'd wake up pretty early and get in and get my workout in before school which was kind of nice

I had a first hour prep period so I could clean up and get ready for the day. Get my mind centered and then I would

teach a class of 20 to 25 English language learner students.
