To kick off this look at the June convention circuit, we are going to talk about the Superman celebration.

And I also have Carla Ogle, who's the chairman of the Superman celebration.

I knew one of us were throwing that point, yeah knew one of us would so the Superman celebration the first question I have to ask is because I'm sure there's a lot of listeners who probably don't maybe not even realize that the celebration goes on is how did all this uh start I don't even mean this year, I mean just in a historical sense.

Wow. Well, actually, if you want to go all the way back in 1972, we went through the motions

of becoming the adopted hometown of Superman, a gentleman that used to live in our town,

discovered that we were actually the

only metropolis in the United States with a zip code.

There is another one, but it's not really a viable town.

It's just more or less a ghost town.

And he got a proclamation from the state of Illinois and talked to, and actually before

it was DC Comics, it was a Periodical Publications, and got a little

agreement worked up, and we became the adopted hometown of Superman.

The actual Superman celebration came a few days, years later.

This is actually our 29th one this year, so we've been doing it for a little while, but it started

out kind of, you know, two vendors and one band and, you know, a small crowd, and it has

really just grown over the years into a four-day celebration of the finest Superman fans
