Summary
Hey there, Sprouts!
I recorded a special message for you this Ash Wednesday as we embark on the season of Lent.
It has been on my heart to urge you to focus all of your energy this Lent on the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The US Bishops remind us that the ultimate goal of Lent is to LEARN TO LOVE LIKE CHRIST. And where can we study the love of Christ? In His Most Sacred Heart.
This Lent inside the Clubhouse we will be focusing on the Sacred Heart of Jesus through our study Cor Jesu. I urge you to consider joining us. It is our goal to not only learn about the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but through meditative prayer, truly ENCOUNTER the Sacred Heart.
Enjoy listening and take it to prayer.
Hoping to see you at our next live event.
In Christ Jesus, and His Most Sacred Heart,
Nancy

| 0:00.0 | Hey there, Spruits. Today is Ash Wednesday, 24, and I know I already released an episode this morning |
| 0:06.8 | about our martyr series starting. Hope you follow along and are inspired by the faith of the |
| 0:12.8 | martyrs this lent. But I decided to hit record and release a separate episode today because of something |
| 0:19.8 | that I want to personally challenge |
| 0:22.3 | each of you and your families to do this Lent. |
| 0:26.3 | And that is to focus on the heart of Jesus. |
| 0:33.3 | Now these might seem like two very separate things, Lent, the season of fasting, alms, |
| 0:39.6 | giving, and prayer, and then the sacred heart of Jesus. |
| 0:44.4 | But I want you to think about something. |
| 0:47.1 | All of these really good practices that we focus on in Lent, prayer, fasting and then caring for the poor by giving alms. |
| 0:58.1 | All of these really important things we do, the reason why we do them is critical. |
| 1:06.0 | It is hugely important. |
| 1:09.1 | In fact, Jesus himself says, don't be like the Pharisees, right? When you're |
| 1:13.7 | fasting, when you pray, to actually not do it just so that you can draw attention to yourself. |
| 1:22.5 | Now, whether we like to admit it or not, and this is true for adults and for children, it's hard |
| 1:29.3 | to do these things, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving with the right intention. Sometimes, you know, |
| 1:35.1 | we fast and we want other people to know we're really suffering or we give our time to serve |
| 1:40.4 | at the food kitchen and we want to post a picture everywhere so people can see what we're doing. |
| 1:45.5 | Now, those are good things, but the reason why we do these things is super important. |
| 1:53.5 | Now, we aren't perfect, but today on Ash Wednesday, as we begin our Lenton journey, |
| 2:00.0 | let's make sure that the reason why we are doing |
| 2:04.5 | these things is Jesus. Now to understand this a little bit more, the U.S. bishops a couple of years |
