I don't know if I talk about myself in the show because it's really not about me.

It's about the strange stories from history that I'd love to tell you.

But if you're hearing this now, then circumstances are forcing me to step back out from behind

the curtain a little and share with you what's going on in my life.

A few months ago I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Now, my doctors have told me that you're going to get cancer, this is the type you want

to get because it's considered 99% treatable.

But the recommended treatment in this case involves having surgery to remove my thyroid, which

if keeping score means the surgeon is going to have to go in and work incredibly close

to my vocal cords.

The doctors inform me that while the odds are extremely low, there is some chance of temporary

or even less than temporary damage to my vocal cords, rendering me unable to speak, which

as you can imagine is a real problem for someone who does a podcast.

I'm recording this announcement before my surgery, and I hope you'll never have to hear it.

But if you are hearing it now, that means I have currently lost my ability to speak, which

means at least for now.

I'm going to have to make some radical changes regarding the show.

This also means, at least for now, I'm going to have to change up what I can produce for

you.

And in order to keep content flowing for the near future, I'm going to begin releasing

some of my Patreon exclusive mini episodes to the public.
