And on this week's episode, we are revisiting a movie that I would say holds a special place in film junk lore.

I don't know if we've ever fully talked about this movie, but it has come up many times.

The 1997 comic book movie Spawn, directed by Mark A. Z. Dipay, if that's how you pronounce it.

Starring Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen.

The plot synopsis is, an elite mercenary is killed, but comes back from hell as a reluctant soldier of the devil.

The devil himself.

So, Spawn, I mean, this, Frank, this movie,

you've talked about many times being heavily hyped, one of your most anticipated movies ever, I think. Yeah, at the time, in 1997, I just, I didn't even read Spawn. I just liked

the look of Spawn. I remember buying action figures and just the poster. I was so in.

And maybe, I guess, like, the soundtrack played a bit of a role, too, because like, uh,

it was like these mashups and manson

and i was probably just getting into manson around then so uh yeah it was i was so set dead set on

loving this movie it was probably the the first time i attempted a force feed like there it didn't

work but i was like I'm going to love

this movie no matter what. And if I learned anything, you can't do that. That is the worst

thing you can do. Pre-buying posters, assuming you're going to like a movie, big mistake.

It's always a bad sign, but did you buy the poster for a spot? No, I got it from work, but I almost busted it out for today, but I would have to go through

a lot of posters to find it. I think I even had the ads. So when you used to have to do ads

for the newspaper, the manager would have to like take the promotional materials, use an
