assess the full impact of the flooding, which has mainly affected the eastern region of Valencia.

Some inundated areas remain inaccessible as rescuers try to clear vehicles

and debris from mud-caked roads and restore communication links. A major rescue operation is

continuing. In the suburb of Palporta, six kilometres southwest of Valencia, a local resident
