On episode 104 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan is joined by journalist, Tyler Hooper from VICE news. He walks us through the mysterious case of Granger Taylor, and the subsequent documentary that followed. Granger Taylor was a master mechanic who built a spaceship. One rainy day in November, he left a note for his family saying that he was going into space on an interstellar voyage. He then mysteriously vanished off the face of the earth. Vice journalist, Tyler Hooper, covered the story in depth, having also contributed to a recent documentary on it. Hooper describes the entire string of events and his theories on what may have happened to Granger Taylor. Guest Bio: Tyler Hooper is a writer and researcher based in beautiful Victoria, B.C. Canada. He likes to research and write about history, quirky characters and the fringes of society: basically, anything with a good narrative will suffice. 1:30.0	He dropped out of school in the eighth grade, but he was a mechanical genius.
1:35.0	He found an abandoned locomotive in the forest and restored it to its former glory.
1:41.0	The province of British Columbia purchased the steam engine for tour and display.
1:47.4	He also purchased and restored a vintage kitty-hawk warplane, which sold for over $20,000 in 1981.
1:57.0	Granger eventually grew bored of earthly engines and shifted his focus to UFOs. He built a flying saucer replica from scrap metal
2:08.0	and spent hours in the ship obsessing over the mechanics of interstellar travel. He read hundreds of books and papers on

2:20.4	Granger came to believe that he'd been contacted telepathically by
2:25.4	extraterrestrials. He talked frequently with his friends and family about these
2:30.3	communications, even explaining he'd been invited to go on an
2:34.6	interstellar voyage at the end of the month. His friends later said they thought
2:40.3	he was talking about a series of dreams he had had. But on the evening of November 28th, 1980, Hurricane
2:48.4	Force winds ripped through Vancouver Island. Granger in his 1972 pickup truck were gone the following morning.
