And now, Apollo 14, introduction. As the 1970s began, NASA was already feeling the heat regarding funding for lunar missions.

While Apollo 13 was considered by many to be NASA's finest hour, in real life, the future of the Apollo program itself was in serious doubt. There was

much debate among politicians, scientists, and the press about the future of Apollo. As a result, on January 4, 1970, NASA

canceled the Apollo 20 Moon mission. Decisions were also made that there would be no new expensive

space programs, especially not in the area of manned space flight.
