Summary

Looks at the Pels, Grizz, Spurs, Mavs, and Rockets’ futures and how we would approach their long-term planning. How does New Orleans build around Zion and Ingram? Same question for the Grizz with Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson? Do the Spurs have enough young talent to begin a new era? The Mavs have great young talent and are also really good right now, how do they take the next step into championship contention? And, uh, Houston also has a team, but few ways to improve. What happens if they can’t win now? Note that COVID Daily News is now a separate pod. Last pod of the week we're gonna get to another one of Danny's battle plans is that that's what you call him for the

0:06.6

The South West division this time. Yeah, I've called them that I am open to suggestions

0:11.6

Also, I don't think it's important enough to necessarily have a name

0:14.1

But that's the one we're using and the the Southwest is a I kind of chose that division because there's some some really

0:21.7

compelling teams not necessarily in terms of identifying the core

0:24.4

But in terms of classifying and all that and I think a good place to start there is the New Orleans Pelicans

0:30.2

The Pelicans did though they entered the highest 28 and 36 there were certainly lots of reasons for optimism

0:37.6

Including Brandon Ingram his improvement throughout the season and Zine Williamson's late debut

0:42.4

But I would say relatively impressive debut

0:44.6

So the first question we like to do with these is who isn't who should be their core?

0:49.2

I think the only two that you can say for sure at this point is Ingram and Zine

0:55.6

Yeah, I would agree with that and I would say Zine is more firmly a part of it than Ingram in the launch

1:00.9

I mean, I fully expecting Ingram to be resigned and or matched

1:04.7

I mean just he'll be he'll be on the Pelicans next year

1:07.0

But if if there is you know, let's say a poor fit like the kind of like something we've thought about at times with

1:13.4

And beaten Simmons it feels pretty clear to me at least at this point that Ingram would be the one to go

1:17.4

Yeah, it's it seems that way and with the way those two players have defended so far in their careers

1:22.8

It does seem to make it difficult to come up with a really good defense

1:26.1

But they did when they had favors out there

1:28.4

They're able to defend at a reasonable rate and so I don't know if that's to be fatal and those two will hopefully both

1:34.5

They get better. They're both very young and you have the problem too where yet Ingram not perfect defensively

1:40.5

But I mean he is still essentially the only guy who's small forward size with any athleticism whatsoever that they've had on the
