Out front tonight, I begin with the breaking news. Trump pausing his high-stakes meeting with

Volodymyr Zelensky to call Putin. A call that the Kremlin says lasted 40 minutes. And according to

Trump, quote, I called President

Putin and began the arrangements for a meeting at a location to be determined between President

Putin and President Zelensky. After that meeting takes place, we will have a tri-lat, which would

be the two presidents plus myself. Now, of course, this is an extremely significant development if it happens, Zelensky and Putin in a room together.

Zelensky face to face with a man who wants him dead and, in fact, has tried to assassinate him countless times.

Now, all of this is breaking just moments ago, just as Trump was wrapping up his meeting with Zelensky and European leaders.

Now, the president of Finland was sitting next to Zelensky

in those meetings, front and center, right across from Trump,

he's going to join me in just a moment.

But first, it is worth pointing out something that was very obvious today.

And that is the difference in Trump's treatment of Zelensky and Putin.

Putin got a literal red carpet treatment in Alaska, right?

I mean, the red carpet was rolled out, complete with hand clapping by the president of the United States, a ride together in the presidential armored car. Not so for Zelensky. He just got a handshake outside the White House and a gesture of approval at his military-style suit. I use those words very explicitly because the suit, by the way,
