Summary

Solomonster reviews Halloween Kills, the sequel to the 2018 Michael Myers film that picks up 40 years after the original. A different kind of movie than the previous one, and that's not necessarily a good thing. Note: this review includes some spoilers from the film.

Solomon's turn back with a review for Halloween Kills. This is one that we had to wait an extra

0:06.0

year for because of the pandemic. The sequel to the 2018 Halloween, which was a direct follow-up

0:14.3

to John Carpenter's original from 1978, ignoring all of the sequels that came after it.

0:21.2

I love the 2018 movie. I thought it did as good of a job as any of the sequels trying to recapture

0:28.4

the spirit of the original, and the fact that it ignored all of the sequels was a plus.

0:33.6

I think it's scarier not knowing why he killed his sister when he was six years old and then

0:40.0

went on this killing spree years later instead of Laurie Strode being revealed to be his sister and

0:46.8

here he is now going to kill off what's left of his bloodline. I think it's scarier the other way.

0:53.1

It also had that great John Carpenter score to it. I really enjoyed it and I had ranked it

0:59.3

number three all time behind the original and season of the witch as my personal favorite of

1:06.8

all the Halloween movies. I really wanted to love this one too and sadly I did not.

1:16.1

Although I would still take it over the whole thorn story from part six or the heaping pile of

1:22.2

shit that was resurrection, it wasn't all bad, but this was just a more violent,

1:29.3

dumb down version of the 2018 film. I did like the fact that I was able to stream this on peacock.

1:35.8

Yeah, it didn't look like it hurt the movie much in theaters. It pulled in over $50 million this

1:40.0

weekend. Now look, people just love their slasher movies. It's why I have every expectation that

1:46.4

that new screen movie is going to do very well when it comes out in January. But if it keeps pulling

1:52.7

numbers like that 50 million in one weekend, I mean that's down from what the first movie did a

1:58.5

few years ago, but I think given the whole situation with the world and movie theaters right now,

2:05.2

that's still a hell of a number. So if it keeps pulling numbers like that, I think Halloween

2:09.9

ends is going to be followed by Halloween for just kidding and Halloween five. No, really we promise

2:16.0

this is the end. That's what that's what's coming up. There are some spoiler notes in here.
