But in today's film, wow, does our protagonist have one heck of a journey to go on.

My agenda is simple.

Each week, I plan to bring you in-depth insight into the creative process of storytelling. You know, I was really blown away by the sound of metal when I saw it at 2020s AFI

Fest, and I was so grateful that AFI was doing their festival online this year.

Everything worked really perfectly.

There was even a good Q&A afterwards.

And it was a great way to bring people that love independent cinema, that experience of seeing a movie first and seeing it before you know anything about it.

And, you know, for me at the, at the AFI Fest in 2020, that's where I saw Sound of Metal and I just loved it.

And I was so impressed. And, you know, today's guest, co-writer, director, Darius Martyr, did such a fantastic job with the script that he's been living with for so long.

And this is a really fascinating episode because he kind of takes us through the different processes and kind of the hell in high water.

He had to go through to get this movie made.

And he was very forthcoming about his creative process, but also what was going on

behind the scenes, you know, business wise to make this happen. Obviously, Riz Ahmed's performance

in this movie is just stellar. It's such a fantastic screenplay. It's really special, as is, you know,

the one thing that we barely even touched on during this podcast that hopefully I'll have another

chance to talk with Darius about, which was the sound design of this movie of a man going

death was just extraordinary. I mean, it was, it's a great all-around piece and Darius was very

forthcoming with his answers, so I know you'll dig this episode. And speaking of things to dig,
