One such man was a guy named James Kidd who was born to Ellen and William Kidd in Augensburg, New York on August 18th of 1878.

And to be honest, there's very little known about James Kidd, and what is known was not pieced together until after he had passed away.

The 1940 U.S. Census shows that he had a fourth grade education, worked as a pump man in the copper mining industry, and he earned $1,754 that year.

That would be about $31,800 a day.

Yet, even with that income, he lived the life of a pauper.
