But hey, don't get comfortable too long because today's writers put us in a world that has

COVID-23.

And we are not recovering so well from that virus.

My agenda is simple.

Each week, I plan to bring you in-depth insights into the creative process of storytelling.

And folks, today I'm very happy to have with us co-writer Simon Boys and co-writer director Adam

Mason to chat about their latest film, Songbird. And that's right, it is technically a pandemic

film. What is so interesting about it, this world of COVID-23 that they project four years into

our future. it's a worse

virus than we're dealing with now.

And while some people might be really tired out of the virus, meaning basically everybody

on the planet, what's interesting about this movie is it reimagines a world of even harsher

conditions than what we currently have.

And of interesting and fascinating note,

this film was filmed in Los Angeles during the pandemic in June of 2020. And, you know,

Adam was kind of at the forefront of doing a production successfully in COVID and working with

the unions to keep his crew and his cast safe.

And he did. They pulled it off. They didn't actually end up with a case. And, you know,

there's a lot of ways that things could go wrong, even when you follow all the protocols we now have.

But Adam was doing this at a time when the protocols weren't always so clear.
