0:00.0	The Well, I'm not. Welcome to Truth for Life Weekend where today we are beginning a series called
0:28.6	Jars of Clay. We're going to be learning how God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary
0:34.7	things.
0:35.7	Alister Begg will take a closer look today at a man whose name pops up only a few times
0:40.3	in the Book of Acts and yet we see the huge impact he was making on the lives of
0:45.0	others including the apostle Paul.
0:49.4	Thanks chapter 11 and verse Acts,
0:53.4	11 and verse 21, the Lord's hand was with them and a great number of people believed and
0:59.6	turned to the Lord.
1:01.0	News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem and they sent
1:05.4	Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he
1:10.6	was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
1:16.4	He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for
1:26.7	Saul and when he found him he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people.
1:36.4	The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.
1:41.0	During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
1:45.0	One of them named Agaba stood up and through the spirit predicted that a severe famine
1:50.0	would spread over the entire Roman world. This happened during the reign of Claudius.
1:54.8	The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea.
2:05.0	This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul. Amen. Let's pause in prayer for a moment.
2:14.0	Once again, our God and Father, we humble our hearts before you,
2:19.0	because we know that by our very nature we do not receive the things of the spirit
