Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper-Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I share words that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead. Thanks for being here today. And now on to today's episode.

The end of the year can be filled with a lot of different emotions. We can feel excited for what's to come, while also feeling nostalgic for the year that is almost over. Today, I want to share a simple

0:39.4

activity with you that I hope can inspire you in this time of reflection. The end of the year can

0:45.8

represent a threshold as we sit between what was and what is to come. And here, at that threshold,

0:53.7

it's time to do something meaningful. It's time to

0:57.5

start sowing seeds of gratitude. Whenever you sow a seed into the ground or into a pot, you are doing

1:05.5

so much more than just sowing a seed. You are creating space for something new and beautiful to grow,

1:13.7

and you are creating the possibility for life. The same is true of gratitude. Whenever we choose to be

1:21.8

grateful, it's not just a fleeting act that gets lost in changing winds. Being grateful is a means of being present in our

1:30.9

lives and acknowledging all of the good that surrounds us. To express gratitude is to sow a seed,

1:38.9

which is one of the most important steps you need to nurture something beautiful into life.

1:47.2

What better way to end the year and get ready for a new one than with gratitude.

1:53.6

Below, you'll find a few phrases that I like to call gratitude seats.

1:59.3

You can come up with your own in addition to the ones below,

2:02.7

but these are just a few to help you get started. They are simple phrases that you can begin

2:08.8

sewing right away. It's important to practice gratitude in our day-to-day life so we can

2:14.7

watch our gratitude grow. When we begin to grow in our awareness of what is good

2:20.7

and beautiful right where we are, we begin to grow as people too. Before we begin, it's important to

2:27.8

note that while these are of quite a few statements, the point isn't to make sense of them all right away in real time.

2:35.9

The point of this is to listen as you go through the list and take notice of the ones that speak to you.

2:43.5

Which statements stand out the most? Which ones resonate? How might you be surprised by what sticks with you? In addition to going over the

2:53.8

list in this episode, I've also linked a blog post in the show notes so you can go back and read
