Fort Campbell, Fort Riley, Camp Schwab, CFB Meiford, places where servicemen swear they saw, heard, or experienced things

they still can't fully explain. With how many stories we haven't even told yet, I feel like

we're only just scratching the surface. There's a lot of military bases that have strange

stories associated with them, but of course, at least in my experience, not every

single one. But as I've spent time planning and researching for future episodes, there is one

army base that keeps popping up again and again. Fort Polk, Louisiana. First established in

1941, just before America entered the Second World War, Fort Polk eventually

became home to the Joint Readiness Training Center, or JRTC.

For a lot of army units, this is the last major stop before deployment.

The whole point of JRTC is realism.

Large-scale combat exercises, mock villages, role players speaking

foreign languages, convoys, ambushes, constant harassment from Op 4, whose entire job is making

your life miserable.

And all of that takes place out in what soldiers simply call the box.
