Something in the woods is taking people, something unknown that we cannot define,

something that others have had the misfortune to encounter. People

snatched soundlessly, never to be seen again, or returned, dead. A strange and highly unusual

predator, highly intelligent, very successful, and able to overpower someone in an instant. This is a puzzle and an often deadly one.

Here follow some very troubling accounts. Fatal accidents can happen very easily to even the most

experienced of hikers or climbers. In the wilderness, hikers can get lost in an instant.

A couple of wrong turns and they can be lost immediately,

unable to know which direction to proceeding,

and very quickly the panic can set in,

a slip on a rock or a trip near a crevice,

and death or serious accidents can come fast.

When falling into a creek, a ravine or between a pile of rocks, a body, dead or injured, can be hidden from search parties quite easily.

However, with highly trained tracker dogs, professional search and rescue

teams, and heat-seeking infrared equipment to detect a person's body heat, the mystery often

remains as to why so many people are not found, or why they are found in the most unusual and sinister of circumstances.

Natural predators can lurk in the wilderness, bears, mountain lions, cougars, and occasionally a hiker

will be victim to these wild animals. They feed where they kill, or drag their bloody victim to a nearby lair.

They leave a trail that is obvious to searchers. However, the victims I'm going to talk about

share no evidence of an animal attack. For these victims, there is no logical explanation.

Only cryptic mysteries, enigma and many unanswered questions.
