Jonah ran from his assignment.

Jesus ran toward it.

Jonah came only because he had to.

Jesus became because he wanted to.

Jonah was thrown overboard into the sea because of his sin.

Jesus was cast into the sea of God's wrath for our sin.

Jonah was taken down into the depths of darkness for three days

because of his disobedience.

That contrast sometimes helps highlight the good versus the better. And don't we all prefer better?
